Web 2.0 Implimentation Framework

Before beginning my implimentation of web 2.0 tools, I need to be thinking about a number of constraints and impacts that they will have in my classroom. First if all, I need to make sure that all of my students will have access to the resources that they need to be successful in using web 2.0 tools. If students don’t have computers with internet access at their home, they will be able to accomplish any required tasks on school computers before and after school. The second thing to consider is the relevance that these internet tools will have to the concepts that I already teach in my class. Am I using web 2.0 to enhance learning, or am I just using these tools as an excuse to use technology?
My intentions are to use technology to enhance the learning of my curriculum and the concepts that I teach. Most students are using technology in every aspect of their lives. Their cell phones are with them at all times and they spend more time on the computer than watching tv. If I can incorporate these same technologies into my teaching, not only will my life be much easier, but my students will see educational uses for the technologies that they already use every day.
Because the internet holds a vast amount of information, students and their teacher need to be on the same pages as to what is acceptable internet usage. Our school district has its own policy that explains acceptable internet usage and my class follows that policy along with guidelines specific to my class.
There are a few different reasons why I am planning on implementing new technologies in my classroom. The first reason is that it gets students excited about learning. If they are using the same technologies used in the classroom that they use on their own, it is easier for school to be interesting and exciting. My second reason for implimenting internet tools into my classroom is that I am hoping that once I have everything set up, my life as a teacher will be easier. My hope is that students will have a one stop shop for the resources my students need. With this technology in my classroom, I am hoping that my class will be a more interactive place for my students where they can collaborate with eachother. I am also hoping that this will help with organization for my student’s work.
I am planning on implimenting these tool next school year beginning with a classroom moodle page. I know that it will take some time for me to work out the bugs and determine what will work best, but I plan on using my students and other teachers to help me determine how effective my implimentations are and any changes that will help me out.
